Latent Daydreams

Daydreams I explore memory and nostalgia. I explore the concept of how intimate the camera can be for the individual filming, or the person filmed. The camera cannot read minds, and therefore, can provide this objective 3rd person perspective. The title, inspired in part by Cathy Caruth and her exploration of the concept of latency. In Latent Daydreams I explore the relationship between the subjectivity of the camera, and my internal feelings as I remember the events from the camera.

Blue Shades,

Shades the struggle between the inner shadow and the outer persona is investigated. The outer persona represented by my face on the curtain is disturbed by the breeze parting the curtains. When the curtain’s part, it reveals outside (nature), yet at that point the windows behind the curtain, are not just windows, anymore, they are portals to the outside, an unknown.

What are you letting go of?

The shadow is accepted through the act of multiple visual and auditory journal entries. I represent the raw painful emotions present when reflecting on one’s shadow.
